How did Raine Michaels get picked to be one of Sports Illustrated 25 swimwear models? Here is how!

Belmont freshman and rocker Bret Michaels' daughter Raine Michaels will appear in the 2019 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in May. “There are only 25 girls in the magazine, which is crazy,” said Michaels. “And I’m going to be one.”

Michaels will be flown out to an undisclosed location in mid-February for the swimsuit photo shoot. But it was a long few months that led up to her selection. Her first step was to submit an Instagram video to the Sports Illustrated Swim Search over the summer.

Michaels took 79 videos of herself, trying to find the perfect one. It wasn’t until her phone was at one percent that she decided to take one more. “Feeling a bit of uncertainty, she decided to submit that last video anyway. She thought, “we’ll see where it goes, and if no one sees it then, whatever.”

The next day, she woke up to find her picture reposted on the official Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Instagram. A week later, Michaels was invited to Miami, where she took part in the second step of the audition process, an interview with her idol Kate Upton. “We had to do an interview with her for for like two minutes. Which is crazy because she’s my role model. I was freaking out,” said Michaels.

Michaels was one of 60 contestants in Miami. Sports Illustrated editors and veteran models narrowed those 60 down to 16 that same day. “I was like the 11th girl that got called,” Michaels said. “I thought, there was no way I was going to get called now.”

In November, Sports Illustrated flew the 16 out to Miami again for a photo shoot and another round of interviews. It wasn’t until January that the six finalists would receive Skype calls congratulating them on making the magazine.

Michaels received the highly-anticipated call and secured her place. “I honestly can’t remember what they said. I was so nervous,” Michaels said.

Though Michaels is living out her dream, she is still a full-time student. She realizes trying to balance school and modeling is going to be a struggle in the next few months. “I let my teachers know in advance," said Michaels. “Obviously I’m here to be a student, but this is what I really want to do.”

She doesn’t plan on dropping out, but knows if things start to pile up she’ll have to make a tough decision. “It all depends on how everything turns out. I’m really going to think about it this summer,” said Michaels.

Christie Brinkley now 65 says other women should not shy away from the spotlight but rather embrace their age proudly

Sport Illustrated Swimwear model Christie Brinkley, now 65, is often praised for her ageless appearance, wants to encourage women to find healthy ways to not only enhance their youthful features but also celebrate life. She recently launched a social media campaign called “Milestones of Me,” which aims to celebrate moments, big or small, that continue to shape our everyday lives. The cover girl insisted she wants other women not to shy away from the spotlight, but rather embrace their age proudly.

Fox News spoke to Brinkley about hitting the big 6-5, the one piece of advice she would give her younger self and where her confidence comes from to rock a bikini.

She said “I think that the number really doesn’t represent the modern woman today. In the olden days, the numbers came with so many rules and so much weight on a woman. There were so many restrictions associated with certain numbers. Like after 30 you can’t wear your skirt above your knee. After 40 you shouldn’t wear your hair below your shoulders. Nowadays, women are totally reshaping the numbers and giving those numbers a new image. To me, to be turning 65, it really could be any number. The only thing is that once you pass 50, every birthday is an opportunity to take stock and say, “What else do I want to do?” And then go for it!

I think I feel most confident when I know I’m being good to myself. When I know I’ve been eating right and exercising. It just makes me feel good. I think that’s real value in taking care of yourself. We all know we get more done on a good hair day. We just do! And I think it’s the same with taking care of your skin, your diet, your exercising.

When you feel better, you look better but you also feel more energized and confident. That’s really the results that keep me going. I want that good energy. I want to be able to do things when they come up. If friends call and say, “We want to go skiing this weekend, wanna come?” I want to be able to say yes. And I don’t want to be the one sitting next to the fire. I want to be the one in the mountains. That’s the benefit of always taking good care of yourself.

Some fans were hoping Brie Larson in Captain Marvel would be wearing the infamous bathing suit costume

The first movie of 2019 from Marvel was released March 9. Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck stars Brie Larson as the eponymous superhero, considered one of the most powerful beings in Marvel comics.

Her non-superhero name is Carol Danvers and she is half-human, half-Kree. The movie is set in the '90s and reveals to us how Captain Marvel and Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) became acquaintances, while we get to know her origins.

There is one thing about Ms Marvel that is not very acceptable in the world today - her tight-hugging 'swimsuit' like costume.

Marvel studio boss Kevin Feige wrote, "If you look at the comics, the further you go back, the less clothes Carol Danvers seems to be wearing. Oftentimes it's a one-piece bathing suit basically, with outrageous comic proportions."

We really don't want another controversy of sexualising female costumes like Justice League did with the Amazonian warriors' outfits.

Brie Larson took her Captain Marvel training very seriously, and she built up some muscles under her superhero costume. But, thankfully, she didn't have to show off those muscles in a one-piece. Her status as an Air Force pilot has definitely been featured in the trailers, and the movie even renamed her comic book cat "Goose" in honor of Top Gun.

Even without baring skin, superhero costumes are notoriously uncomfortable for women and and men. In a way, that's one good thing about modern superheroes -- it's pretty much equal opportunity when it comes to form-fitting costumes showing everything.

She would join the likes of Tyra Banks in 1997 and Beyonce in 2005, Sports Illustrated reported.
