A little more than a decade ago, another tennis star, Maria Sharapova, posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
Maria Sharapova, now 34, posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in 2006. The Russian tennis star turned pro in 2001. By 2006, she was one of the biggest tennis stars in the world.
Alex Morgan, Genie Bouchard, Lindsey Vonn, Paige Spiranacm Danica Patrik and more have all posed for the iconic magazine.
Sharapova, meanwhile, retired from tennis in 2020. She finished her career with a record of 645–171. The Russian star has five Grand Slam singles titles – two French Open titles and one title each at Wimbledon, the US Open and the Australian Open.

The 29-year-old, pictured on a photoshoot, appears in Ryan Reynolds movie Free Guy about a non-player character in a video game who becomes self-aware.

The action-packed comedy opens in the UK next week.

Alex Morgan and the United States women’s national team just wrapped up their time at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
The United States women’s national team is leaving Japan with a medal, although it’s not the one they came for. Morgan and Co. took home the bronze medal in the Summer Olympics.
Morgan shared a heartfelt message for her team following the Olympics.
“Coming home with that fresh Bronze and couldn’t be more proud of this team!” Morgan wrote. “Battling until the end it’s been 40 days on the road and ending on a high makes it all worth it!!”
Morgan has become one of the sport’s leading voices both on and off the pitch. On the pitch, she remains one of the best players in the world. Off of it, she continues to grow her platform.
Back in 2014, Morgan became one of the first United States soccer stars to pose for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.
Morgan has posed for the iconic magazine issue multiple times. The United States women’s national team star was a cover model in 2019.
The 2021 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue hit newsstands last month. This year’s issue also features a superstar athlete.
