It’s the start of a Hot Girl Summer for Camila, who split from her longtime boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, at the end of 2021. She also recently took a trip to Italy, where she posted various bikini photos. Following the trip, she performed at two festivals, and then took a brief social media detox to take some time to herself. Now, she’s back in action, though!

Although Camila hasn’t been shy about posting sexy photos over the last several months, she’s also been open about her struggle with body image. When paparazzi took photos of her on the beach earlier this year, Camila admitted that seeing the images online triggered her. “I’ve worn bikinis that were too small and paid no mind to how I looked, then saw pictures online and comments and been so upset,” Camila admitted. “I reminded myself when it impacted my esteem that I was thinking the culture’s thoughts and not my own.”

The singer went on to share an inspiring message about confidence and body positivity. She opened up about how she purposely wore makeup, sucked her stomach in, and didn’t eat anything too heavy the next time she wore a bikini in public. However, this only made her more “self-conscious,” and led to a day where she didn’t enjoy herself because she was so worried about what photos the paparazzi would take. “What is health if you’re so fixated on what your body looks like that your mental health suffers and you can’t enjoy your life?” she wondered. “Who am I trying to look attractive for and am I even attractive to myself if I can’t let loose and relax and have fun and be playful on a beautiful day at the beach?”

Camila definitely seemed to be paying no mind to the cameras on her latest beach outing, though, as she was absolutely glowing and having a blast with her girlfriends.

Camila Cabello is taking back her bikini body

The “Havana” singer posted a mirror shot of herself sporting a blue bikini. She captioned her post “Ready pa el veranooo,” which translates to “ready for summer.”

The photo comes after Cabello shared how stressful it felt when paparazzi snapped photos of her while she was trying to enjoy a beach day. In a note she posted in April, she wrote, “I held my core so tight my abs hurt and didn't breathe and barely smiled and was so self-conscious of where the paps were the whole time I couldn't let go and relax and do what we're meant to do when we go out in nature.”

Even though she said she knew she would look “good” in the photos, she had a less-than-relaxing time at the beach as a result of her hyper fixation.

“I felt the emptiness and sadness of our culture's thoughts that became my thoughts,” she wrote.

In 2021, the Cinderella star spoke to Bustle about having her previous bikini photos go viral, thus opening herself up to body criticism.

“The whole day I felt insecure,” Camila Cabello told. “I felt like it was changing how I was thinking about food and eating ... really messing me up.”

Still, she explained that she had no interest in changing her lifestyle to please the masses.

“You can work out a few hours a day and never eat carbs and whatever, but that’s just not a balanced life. That’s not what I want,” the artist explained. “I can’t change to fit that mold.”

In 2019, Cabello spoke out about the stress from having all eyes on her body after she saw a headline that said she was being body shamed.

"Honestly the first thing I felt was super insecure just IMAGINING what these pictures must look like,” she recalled. “Oh no! My cellulite! Oh no! I didn't suck in my stomach! But then I was like... of course there are bad pictures, of course, there are bad angles, my body's not made of f***ing rock, or all muscle, for that matter."

Camila showed off her hot body while wearing a two-piece blue bikini that had a thong-style bottom. Meanwhile, Shawn was shirtless and wore a black swimsuit as he enjoyed a kiss from his love.

Shawn and Camila looked to be having a great time in Miami. Following their makeout session, the couple went for a casual stroll on the beach as they admired the beautiful scenery.
