After Jessica welcomed Birdie in 2019, she was left with a lot of excess weight, which she attributes to a poor diet. "I went to a nutritionist, and I needed to get my eating habits right," she recently told Extra. She follows Harley Pasternak's The Body Reset diet, eating three healthy, protein-packed meals a day and two snacks, such as almonds.

Harley Pasternak, Jessica's trainer, doesn't like to use scales. "I never work with scales. My work with her is more about the habits she's created and kept up. And as a byproduct of doing these habits, she lost 100 pounds," he told People. "I have no idea how much I weigh," she added to Today. "I just want to feel good and be able to zip my pants up. If I don't, I have another size. I have every size."

Jessica exercises with Pasternak regularly. At one point she was doing 45-minute strength and weight training sessions three days a week. Walking is a huge part of their program. At first, Pasternak had her walking 6,000 steps per day, eventually building up to 14,000, per E! News. "It's a social thing that she can do with her kids," Pasternak said about walking.

Jessica also loves yoga. What makes the zen practice great for losing weight? "Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood," says Harvard Health. "People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating."

In a new interview with Bustle, Jessica confronted weight loss drug rumors "Oh Lord. I mean, it is not (Ozempic)," she said, referring to how she's lost weight. "It's willpower. I'm like, do people want me to be drinking again? Because that's when I was heavier. Or they want me to be having another baby? My body can't do it."

The "Public Affair" singer turned up the heat, posting a sizzling and stylish pic of herself as summer comes to an end. And this time, she was able to add some accessories to her mom-off-duty look.

"Without 3 kids needing me to hurry, I had the time to accessorize the bikini," she wrote. "It is the little things that make me happy."

The author of Open Book, in which she partly details how much body shaming has hurt her and opens up about addiction issues, revealed last year that she'd thrown out her scales at the time.

"I have no idea how much I weigh. Like, I just want to feel good and be able to zip my pants up. If I don't I have another size. I have every size," she said during an interview. "I've really tried my hardest to not let that define me."

In the height of the pandemic, Simpson shared how she exercised without a personal trainer, something a little more relatable. "I like to like track my steps, keep myself accountable, and to just know my movement throughout the day," she told. "If I haven’t moved enough, I’ll make sure and get in extra steps the next day. For me, it’s moderation – I don’t put too much pressure on myself.”

It seems moderation is also key to Simpson's diet. "When I was the spokesperson for Weight Watchers, it was very authentic and it actually taught me a lot about just writing things down, calculating things, knowing what you’re putting in your body," she said.

"I personally don’t stay away from foods if I want something, I’ll have some of it, but I’m good at putting it down. I mean, listen, I have kids, so if I want, I eat like a kid. I like corn dogs and mac and cheese – you don’t limit yourself.”

Natalie Portman is backpedaling from her comments about Jessica Simpson. Portman said that her intention wasn't to shame the singer. 

"I would never intend to shame anybody and that was absolutely not my intention," Portman told Entertainment Tonight. 

After the originial comments Jessica Simpson wrote on Instagram. "As public figures, we both know our image is not totally in our control at all times, and that the industry we work in often tries to define us and box us in.

However, I was taught to be myself and honor the different ways all women express themselves, which is why I believed then – and I believe now – that being sexy in a bikini and being proud of my body are not synonymous with having sex."

Portman continued on Entertainment Tonight. "I was really talking about mixed media messages out there for young women and completely apologize for any hurt it may have caused because that was definitely not my intention."

She added, "What I said was I was confused by mixed messages when I was a young girl growing up, and there are a lot of messages for how women should be, and women should be allowed to do whatever they want."

Jessica Simpson has called out Natalie Portman in an open letter, saying she is 'disappointed' the actress 'shamed' her for posing in a bikini in a photo that was taken nearly two decades ago. 

Natalie, 37, plays a pop star in her upcoming film, Vox Lux, and while promoting the movie, she reflected on the singers she grew up with, recalling a photo she saw of Jessica, 38, when she was a teen. 

"I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying "I’m a virgin" while wearing a bikini, and I was confused.

Like, I don’t know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl," Natalie told USA Today.  Just one day after the interview was published, Jessica took to Instagram and Twitter to share her powerful response, tagging Natalie in the post. 

"I was disappointed," wrote Jessica "when I read that I "confused" you by wearing a bikini in a published photo taken of me when I was still a virgin in 1999," she wrote. 

"As public figures, we both know our image is not totally in our control at all times, and that the industry we work in often tries to define us and box us in. 

However, I was taught to be myself and honor the different ways all women express themselves, which is why I believed then — and I believe now — that being sexy in a bikini and being proud of my body are not synonymous with having sex,' she continued. 

"I have always embraced being a role model to all women to let them know that they can look however they want, wear whatever they want and have sex or not have sex with whomever they want. The power lies within us as individuals."
