Megyn Kelly enjoying her vacation in the Bahamas

Megyn Kelly celebrated Easter under the sun this year.

While enjoying a vacation in the Bahamas with husband Doug Brunt and their three kids, Kelly was all smiles as she was spotted paddle-boarding in a black bikini.

Kelly, 48, tells PEOPLE that she and her family “had a great time” on the trip.

“Egg hunts on the beach, water slides with the kids and some time to celebrate our faith on Easter,” she says. “Our kids are growing up so fast — every minute we get with them is a gift. And so were the tequilas Doug and I enjoyed poolside!”

Kelly and Brunt share sons Thatcher, 5, and Edward, 9, and daughter Yardley, who turned 8 last week.

“Happy Birthday to my sweet Yardley, 8 years old today, and just as fun and full of fire as on Day One. Love this girl!!” Kelly tweeted alongside a photo of her daughter holding a bunch of balloons while celebrating her big day.

Kelly has been spending plenty of time with her family since she finalized her departure from NBC News in January. Her exit followed the cancellation of her Today show hour in October after the anchor sparked serious backlash for questioning whether wearing blackface as part of a Halloween costume is actually racist. Kelly apologized for her comments twice — first in an internal email to colleagues, and then on-air the next day.

“I have never been a PC kind of person, but I do understand the value in being sensitive to our history, particularly on race and ethnicity,” she said. “This past year has been painful for many people of color. The country feels so divided and I have no wish to add to that pain and offense. I believe this is a time for more understanding, more love, more sensitivity and honor. I want to be part of that. Thank you for listening and for helping me listen too.”

The 9 a.m. hour has since been taken over by Craig Melvin, Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones.

A friend of Kelly’s told PEOPLE last year that the news anchor was “looking forward to her next chapter.”

“She’s expected to be back in action soon,” said the friend. “She will work again.”

Megyn Kelly is living her best life. The 48-year-old television personality was recently snapped continuing her Easter vacation in the Bahamas, paddleboarding in the ocean and sporting a black bikini. Kelly looked fit, healthy and happy, smiling big as she balanced on her board.

Kelly has been keeping a low profile since January, when she and NBC officially parted ways just three months after her show, Megyn Kelly Today, was canceled following the host's controversial defense of blackface in Halloween costumes. She later tearfully apologized on-air for the comments.

ET spoke to CBS This Morning co-anchor Gayle King last October, who said she believed Kelly would eventually get a second chance when it comes to her career.

"I know Megyn Kelly, I've spent time with her," King said. "I know that she is very smart at what she does. I think she's very good at what she does, and I absolutely believe that she will get a second chance from somebody. I don't know where, I don't know when, I don't know how. But you know, I feel now everybody is sort of piling on Megyn Kelly all at one time and I always think that's a very difficult position to be in."

"But I know that she will get through this," she added at the time. "I think that this is very difficult, but I think that her comments were also very painful and hurtful to a lot of people. So, I think it's lessons learned from her, lessons learned to a lot of people who are watching this situation."
