Tracee Ellis Ross Rocks Bikini in Makeup-Free Vacation Photos from Jamaica

Tracee Ellis Ross is living it up on vacation.

The Black-ish star took to Instagram on Monday to show off a collection of photos from a trip to Jamaica. In all the photos, Ross is posing in a floral string bikini. Alongside the waterside photos, she captioned her Instagram simply with the Jamaican flag.

The 50-year-old actress and producer also showed off her natural hair, wet from a recent swim. She kept her overall look simple and fresh to enjoy her time in the tropical location — no makeup, no glam, just natural beauty.

Ross' famous friends left plenty of comments on her Instagram, praising her look and sharing their jealousy over her beautiful trip. Gabrielle Union wrote, "Gorgeous," while Kate Hudson added, "Oh how I miss that spot!!! Enjoy. The best place ❤️." Natasha Lyonne added a cheeky, "Splish splash!!"

The Hair Tales executive producer celebrates natural beauty through the context of Black hair in the Hulu series, also executive produced by Oprah Winfrey.

"For me, the intention was for it to be intimate and for it to feel like a sacred space where we could contextualize our humanity and our legacy and so much of what we experience that never gets space to be held together," Ross told PEOPLE in October. "It's a love letter to black women. A show that centered us in our own narrative that was about us, but for everyone. And that really allowed us space to explore not only with each other, but in the fullness of who we are."

In each episode, The High Note actress speaks candidly with celebrity guest stars — Winfrey, actresses Issa Rae and Marsai Martin, singers Chloe Bailey and Chika, and congresswoman Ayanna Pressley — about their personal hair journey while discussing the culture of Black hair. The series also features an honest look at broader societal and historic themes as they relate to Black women and their hair.

"I feel like in our culture, the narrative has sold us a lie about who we are that is often about struggle, and pain and hardship," Ross told PEOPLE. "And that is a part of the experience, but as Black women, there's also so much joy, and so much beauty and so much celebration with our hair."

As the founder and CEO of haircare line Pattern Beauty, Ross has long been vocal about her love of her hair. Although she admits she struggled gaining a relationship with her hair as a teenager, she told PEOPLE that "society tells me, as a Black woman, that my identity is wrapped up in my hair."

And while she now has immense "pride" in her curls, Ross candidly shared that she knows she's "more than my hair."

Whether she's rocking a wash-and-go, a lavish statement hairstyle or the au naturale wet look in Jamaica, the entrepreneur knows that her hair is simply an "expression of who I am" that makes her feel beautiful.

It’s officially Scorpio season and Tracee Ellis Ross is here for it

The photo is shot from behind and shows Tracee’s toned butt and legs as she peeks over her shoulder. She’s wearing a striped string bikini by the side of a pool and giving the camera a look.

Of course, Tracee didn’t get that next-level butt and killer legs from just hanging out poolside. For starters, she’s a big—huge—fan of the Tracy Anderson Method, a dance-based workout that aims to help devotees get all-over toned.

Tracee regularly shares snippets about the Method on Instagram, and she also previously told that this is her go-to for working up a sweat. "I do love Tracy Anderson, the blasting music. I love that it changes all the time,” she said. “I love that she really sculpts a workout for my body. I feel lean.”

Tracee Eliis Rosd also doesn’t slouch on her exercise routine. "It's three days a week on a regular basis, sometimes four," she told of her workout frequency. "Sometimes I take a little break, but the truth is, I feel the best when I work out. I feel very strong."

Tracee Ellis Ross sure knows how to cool off in the heat

The 48-year-old actress display a fun clip she made of herself dancing around in an outdoor shower, clad in a pine-green bikini.

The “Black-ish” star sways around and mugs it up under a gorgeous, super-tall shower lined with fresh greenery and a wide waterfall spray.

The amazing shower almost takes the attention away from Ross. Almost.

Ross also posted some stills from the same shoot that look like she’s cracking up after working the whole sexy routine.

The sense of humor in these pics and clip are a fun diversion from the usual humble-brag bikini shots.

Tracee Ellis Ross celebrated her 47th birthday today by loving herself

Ross posted a series of smokin-hot bikini pics on Instagram to celebrate the occasion. "It’s my birthday. I’m 47 today and I’m filled with gratitude," she wrote. "I LOVE getting older and I LOVE my life. I’m so grateful to be living this life I’m in. I’ve worked so hard to feel good in my skin and to build a life that truly matches me and I’m in it and it feels good."

Ross rounded out her birthday post by saying that, while she loves where she's at in life right now, there's still the possibility of change in her future. "I remain curious and teachable and so it will all keep getting better," she wrote. "No filter, no retouch 47 year old thirst trap!"

Ross, who stars in the sitcom Black-ish, is no stranger to the occasional bikini pic and workout post. In a 2017 interview with Health, Ross opened up about her workout routine, saying that she works out three days a week consistently, but sometimes she squeezes in a fourth workout. “I didn’t wake up like this,” she said, commenting on her body. “At 22, I woke up like that. At 44, I work really hard for this!”

Ross said at that time that she’d been both smaller and bigger during her life but that “health and the functionality of” her body were more important to her than what she looked like.

As far as her specific workouts go, Ross said that she works with a trainer to target her butt. “Gravity makes it drop and spread, so I try to lift and tighten,” Ross said. Ross also added that squats, deadlifts, and lunges keep her feeling her best. “I love a deadlift. I have 20-pound weights in my meditation room, so sometimes I’ll just do some.”

As far as other healthy habits she prioritizes, Ross mentioned monitoring her food intake, moisturizing, and getting facials and acupuncture. She also said she drinks water and doesn’t drink too much alcohol.
