Argentianian actress Gimena Accardi is soaking up the March sun in a tiny swimsuit, and sharing the pictures on social media. Accardi posted snaps of herself posing in a bathing suit against a lush background of trees and green grass. "Eternal summer ?," she captioned the post.
Accardi has just started taking exercise seriously for the sake of her health. "I promised this year to start moving my body for my health," she captioned an Instagram post. "I'm going to be 38 and I've never worked out in my life. I'm not a fan of gyms and I struggle to work out.. well, question that 3 weeks ago I started the gym 2 times a week, with a very capable trainer (that above is my friend, Dani ?)… I never dreamed of saying this but I'm very good with training, we'll see how long it lasts me… but for now I'm back inside! Thank you dear teacher for making the effort! I don't know, I wanted to share it with you because for me it's an achievement!"
Accardi loves walking her beloved labrador. "Walking can be as good as a workout, if not better, than running," says Dr. Matt Tanneberg, CSCS, a sports Chiropractor and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist in Phoenix, Arizona. "You hear of people 'plateauing' when they continue to do the same workout routine and stop seeing results. I see patients all the time that plateau from running, they will run the same distance, speed and time, day in and day out. You need to constantly be switching up your exercise routine in order to get the maximum benefit for your health."
Accardi enjoys yerba mate drinks. "Mate is a traditional South American beverage drink that is brewed from the leaves and stems of the yerba mate plant, a tree that belongs to the holly family," says Monica Reinagel, MS,LD/N, CNS. "It's widely consumed in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Brazil, where the mate tree is indigenous. You'll also find mate as an ingredient in energy drinks or in the herbal tea section of your local health food store."
Accardi makes sure to fully warm up her body by stretching before dancing or working out. "Many assume that it's best to stretch before you run or take part in any type of exercise – but it's better if you warm up first," says Timothy Miller, MD. "Jogging at a slow pace or spending a few minutes on an exercise bike will increase blood flow to the muscles and allow you to get more out of your stretch. Remember to build that extra time into your workout routine. If you plan to run on the treadmill for 20 minutes, set aside 35-40 minutes in all. Spend five minutes or so warming up, 5-10 minutes stretching, and then begin your workout."
Accardi loves grazing on a cheese-heavy charcuterie board. "Cheese provides a slew of beneficial nutrients," says Samantha Cassetty, RD. "Cheese contains protein, fat and saturated fat, sodium, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and vitamin B12, among other nutrients. However, amounts vary, depending on the type of cheese you select. While many of these nutrients are necessary for optimal health, some, like saturated fat and sodium, are discouraged."
