Julianne Hough is celebrating her best friend, Nina Dobrev, on her birthday – by sharing photos of the duo in their swimsuits. In a new social media post the dancer-slash-actress shows off her incredible body in a bathing suit alongside her Vampire Diaries pal. "Today marks another year around the sun for one of the brightest lights!" she captioned the series of instagram snaps.

"I love to make every moment a luxury experience," Hough told Women's Health. "Whether it's in the bathtub and having bubbles and meditation music playing and my crystals and whatever it is, or I'm in the shower and I'm just rushing out through the day, at least I know that I'm being taken care of in the best way possible."

Hough is also a fan of regular body scans. What is a body scan? She explained to Pure Wow that it is a form of guided meditation practice that has you lie down, stay aware of your breath, and mindfully soften each part of your body, from head to toe. "I love meditating and doing energy work," she said. "It really helps me get out of my head and into my body."

"I love making sure my environment is like, candles lit or incense burning, just to create the experience and get my mindset in a really calming way, so I can self-regulate before I get crazy again with work stuff," Hough told Women's Health .

"Pilates, yoga, working out with a trainer," are a few of Hough's workouts. She likes to maintain variety with exercise because "it keeps everything fresh and helps me fuel my body's different needs," she told Shape. "Recovery is also a second workout to me," she added. "We always think about the fact that we have to push, push, push, but without that recovery, it leads to burnout. It's about that balance. I think we haven't focused enough on recovery in the athletic or the artistic athlete (dancers)."

"Just like my weight, the timing fluctuates [laughs]. I try to go to bed at ten and on good nights, I am able to. For the most part, I crawl into bed at ten and watch a TV show or a movie and fall asleep by 11:30 p.m. or midnight. Not bad, but it could be better," Dobrev told The Cut about bedtime. "I also sleep with a sound machine. Sound machines are my secret weapon because they drown out any noise and keep you in this even-keeled environment that's peaceful and chill."

Nina has another "trick" up her sleeve when it comes to sleep. "Chamomile tea," she said. "Those are my tricks. I don't count sheep or anything." Numerous studies have shown that a variety of teas may boost your immune system, fight off inflammation, and even ward off cancer and heart disease.

"To unwind at night," Nina might watch something on Netflix. "Or I'll read. I recently finished Cat Marnell's How to Murder Your Life," she told Harper's Bazaar. Why should you read at night? One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

Nina's health hack for not looking tired? "I was on a vampire show for a very, very long time, so we shot at night and [I] didn't sleep very much," she told Vogue. "One thing that I learned recently is that dark circles appear because you're dehydrated, so it's important to drink a lot of water."

Julianne Hough has positive vibes for the new year

Julianne Hough is going into 2024 with good intentions and positive vibes. Hough, 35, shared an Instagram reel featuring highlights of her happiest moments, including stills of her relaxing in very cute swimsuits. "Setting my intentions for the new year, and I can't help but pause at the overwhelming sense of gratitude I hold for the moments of the year before and the moments ahead. It is easy to get caught up in the thief that is comparison, but when you pause and take a moment to reflect on the beauty found in the small moments, the art of life reveals itself. Sending light, love, and positive intentions to all✨?," she captioned the post.

Hough focuses on a holistic approach to wellness and beauty. "Skin is my number one priority in all of my wellness rituals," she tells Bustle. "Everything that I do is all about a holistic approach and sensory experience, because your senses are so important and that's what you create your memories with. It's so important to me to indulge in the pleasures, in the sensuality, and in the experience of what it feels like to take care of yourself. We rush throughout life and sometimes don't savor the moments. Something like [shaving] that can feel like a have to, now feels like a get to."

Hough feels complete after a good sweat session. "On the physical side, skin is my go-to for everything," she tells Bustle. "Whether that's hydrating with water, what I'm putting in my body, what I'm putting on my body — it's all the same for me. I am a big believer in [the idea] that you need to sweat to release those toxins. Whether that's Pilates or dance or yoga or cycling — I love variety, so it not only helps with my physical self, but it also helps clear my mind."

Hough is an expert at doing her own makeup. "I darken my eyebrows with a pencil. I used to wax the arches, but now I'm letting them grow in. When I feel really makeup-artist-y, I actually get a paint palette and I draw on the eyebrow; it looks like natural hair coming out of my skin."

Hough launched a clean wine company with actress Nina Dobrev, and says the experience has been wonderful. "We work with our winemaker, Jamey Whetstone, to create thoughtfully crafted wines—we pay close attention to every gram of sugar, calorie, and carb that goes into the process!" she tells New Beauty. "Nina and I both live such active lifestyles, so we created this wine with the intention of being able to enjoy these shared experiences and the work we put in, without the sacrifice. When you have great communication and a foundation of respect for one another, you get two different perspectives and are able to challenge each other in a way that just helps you be your best self. And that is what's been incredible about working with Nina."

Hough prefers mornings over evenings for self-care rituals. "I usually wake up with anxiety [thinking] of all the things I need to do — so I'll write my morning pages so I can have a 'brain dump' of all the chatter that happens, and all of a sudden I have all of this space in my head and I can come from a place of creativity," she tells Bustle. "Energetically and emotionally, that's one of my biggest [rituals]. I usually find [that I enjoy] energizing things in the morning, and then the regulating [habits] at night — like breathwork, meditation, drinking really soothing teas, or taking a bath and just [rinsing off the day]."

Nina Dobrev has been having the time of her life when on vacation in the Maldives

The 33-year-old Vampire Diaries actress looked sensational as she modeled a teeny green bikini that made the most of her curves. 'When it's so blue outside it's impossible to feel blue on the inside,' wrote the star.

The brunette beauty has been on holiday with her boyfriend Shaun White who is a former Olympian.

In most of the shots, she was in the lime green print suit that had a bandeau top and briefs that rode low on her hips.

Her hair was worn down and she had on sunglasses as she flashed her warm tan.

White was also seen on the shore as he held his girlfriend in his arms and then they walked side by side.

Earlier this year Dobrev hailed White as the 'greatest boyfriend of all time' following his retirement from competitive snowboarding.

Nina Dobrev has been working in the US while Shaun has been competing at the Winter Olympics in China.

But over recent weeks, she's been making every effort possible to support her boyfriend from thousands of miles away.

Shaun said earlier this month: 'She knew all of my friends and family couldn't be there and she got everyone together and made this incredible video of everyone saying how much they wish they could be there and sending their love and support.

'I've been playing that video every day while I'm here to get pumped up and feel support from back home. So that was just so wonderful. It really set the tone for the rest of the trip.'
