The film is about a woman who becomes embroiled in an abusive romantic relationship, but Lively, 36, has been receiving criticism over how she has been promoting the film.

The 53-year-old raven-haired beauty says the sci-fi show is a love story. Connelly said: “It was kind of an ode to a marriage.” She added: “It’s told through this device of alternate realities, which is a fun idea, but it’s really an exploration of a couple. And I enjoyed that.”

In Dark Matter, Connelly plays the wife of the protagonist, Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a Chicago physicist who is “warped into an alternate version of his life, leaving him to fight to return to his life to prevent the alternate version of himself from taking over his family.”

When not acting, the Oscar-winning actress enjoys her days off, often on the water, in a boat, and rocking a bikini. Last week she shared the black string bikini and captioned it: “Dog days of summer.”

In real life, Jennifer Connelly is married to her husband of 20 years, fellow actor Paul Bettany (WandaVision, A Knight’s Tale, The Da Vinci Code, A Beautiful Mind).

On Valentine’s Day, Connelly sent a digital love letter to Bettany with a swimsuit photo.

In 2023, Holly added to her credentials by becoming a certified nutrition coach and achieving a level 3 Personal Trainer qualification.

Holly welcomed her son Alpha in June 2023 and has opened up about the journey she has been to get back on track and now, she's all about sharing fitness tips and workout videos with her followers on Instagram.

After gaining 50lb during her pregnancy, Holly confessed she was 'terrified' but determined to shed the baby weight, emphasizing that post-baby body recovery is a gradual process and new mums shouldn't feel pressured to bounce back quickly.

She recently updated her followers on her progress, saying: "I knew what needed to be done because I have the education and tools, but I knew it would take time. There's no getting around that."

Her before and after snaps showcasing her weight loss journey have truly amazed her followers. One fan praised: "Good job girl" while another added: "You look amazing."

Sharing a before and after snap from behind, Holly explained that she gained weight while pregnant which went to her bottom - something she previously tried to mend with surgery but has now realised a healthy lifestyle is more effective.

Detailing the transformation, Holly shared: "16 months post partum and 47lb difference. I’ve been grafting my a**e off (literally) to reduce my bbl naturally after gaining weight in pregnancy and the majority going to my bum.

"The trolling I received on my post partum body wasn’t ideal and it meant I stopped showing up and creating content for @teamfittyapp because I was so nervous about what people would say about my body. I was constantly encouraged to go and get more surgery to reverse it without people understanding the danger of a surgery in that area. I knew it could be reduced with fat loss, I just needed consistency and patience."
