Elizabeth Hurley is revealing all of the wellness secrets that keep her looking fit at 58. In a new social media post, the supermodel and beachwear designer answers some of her fans' most burning questions about her diet and workout – namely how she looks half her age. "One question I get asked all the time is, how do you stay in shape and what do you eat? So here goes," she started the Instagram post, showing off her famous curves in a bathing suit.

Elizabeth has a few dietary rules she follows, starting with the size of her meals and how and when she eats them. "My mantra is: don't eat too much, too fast, too often or too late. Or, put another way, eat smaller meals, chew properly, ban snacking and eat dinner earlier. This works for me," she writes in her post.

So many stars swear by various green juice concoctions, smoothies, and protein shakes, but not Elizabeth. "I don't drink weird green juices or shakes," she says. She also refuses to take nutrients in pill form, with one exception. She only takes supplements "if a blood test tells me I'm lacking something," she says.

Liz has an easy hack for getting lots of produce into her diet. "I try to have vegetables or fruit equal half of every plate I eat – ie if I have a sandwich, I also eat an apple," she says.

The model sticks with a very clean diet. "I eat pretty much everything but only have junk food as an absolute treat – and I count junk food as anything that contains any ingredient that I don't have in my own kitchen, so that includes 'diet' and 'low-fat' everything, all ready meals, all bought sandwiches, cakes and biscuits and all sodas," Elizabeth says.

Elizabeth doesn't shy away from carbs and baked goods. But, she makes them herself. "My best investment was a bread maker and I make a loaf a day. I also make cakes every weekend," she says.

Liz also moves her body, but doesn't go to the gym. "Other than diet, my other advice is to move more. I don't go to the gym or do any set exercise but I'm extremely active. There endeth the sermon. Let me know if this makes sense for you," she concluded her post.

Hurley starts the day with hot water. "When I got to the studio I'd drink a mug of hot water and go into hair and makeup," she says. "I often put apple cider vinegar in my hot water. It tastes disgusting. I can't face it every day, so I'll put it in my hot water maybe every other day. It's good for your metabolism. After about half an hour I have a cup of coffee, and after an hour I'll have breakfast."

Hurley tries to source her food locally whenever possible, growing her own fruits and vegetables and shopping at nearby farms. "Backyard gardening can inspire you to take an interest in the origins of your food and make better choices about what you put on your plate," says Dr. Helen Delichatsios, an internist at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital. "When you grow your own food, you savor it more because of the effort it took to get to the table."

Hurley keeps her workout routine simple yet effective. "I don't do any regulated exercise, but I'm very active," she says. "On the weekends I go for long hikes with my dogs. I try and stretch every day. I do the occasional yoga or Pilates class, but mostly it's just self-exercise at home. I might do some stomach exercises or some bottom or arm exercises, but because I trained for a dancer when I was young, I sort of know all the exercises. I find it very hard for my schedule to regularly go anywhere else. It works very well for me."

Hurley makes sure 50% of her diet is vegetables. "I haven't eaten processed food for 100 years," she says. "I don't eat sweets. I drink little alcohol. I don't smoke but I deeply regret that I once did. I have learned to eat lighter and not so late."

Part of Hurley's mantra of "gentle exercise and lots of it" means plenty of walking. "I walk every day, so I try and hit my 10,000 steps a day and I do some stretching every day," she says. "And then sometimes I do a bit more, but that's enough for me really."

Elizabeth has made it clear that she’s not really a gym person, but she does take fitness seriously and stays active on the regular. In fact, she practically invented found fitness.

"I don't really do any set exercise, per se, because I prefer to get my exercise from doing something than being in the gym," she previously told.

That can mean things like doing squats while she brushes her teeth to tone her legs and butt and taking her dogs for 20-minute walks first thing in the morning to get her heart rate up.

Liz, 56, is also huge on gardening and, in particular, logging—as in, chopping down trees and moving them around. “I am very active," she previously said. “I do a lot of exercise, but it’s really the gardening…cutting down a hedge, using my chainsaw to cut down a tree, logging, all of that stuff I do. So, I’m very active.”

You’ll find Elizabeth out gardening no matter what time of year it is. "I do as much outside during the winter as I do during the summer," she told WH. "Not only do I feel, well, actually exhausted, but also I feel that I've got the leaves up, which is also a nice thing."

She also shared this nugget: "I'd rather do housework than go to the gym. I'd rather scrub a mirror—it does just as much."

At age 56, Elizabeth Hurley is feeling younger than ever.

The British actress and model, who has gone viral for her sizzling bikini snaps, revealed her secrets to staying in shape.

"I haven’t eaten processed food for 100 years," says Elizabeth Hurley. "I don’t eat sweets. I drink little alcohol. I don’t smoke but I deeply regret that I once did. I have learned to eat lighter and not so late."

"I think one of the most transformative things that I’ve done is making 50 percent of what I eat vegetable matter," Hurley continued. "If you have a slice of toast for breakfast, have an apple too. Counteract everything with vegetables."

But the star has one weakness – peanut butter.

"I have one spoon, then another, and I’ve emptied the jar before you know it," Hurley admitted.

Hurley also enjoys an occasional piece of nicotine gum.

"I stopped smoking 10 years ago," she said. "But I can’t give up the Nicorette."

And when it comes to going under the knife, Hurley said she’s not a fan of excess plastic surgery.

"No! I don’t think it makes you look younger, I think it just makes you look like you’ve got filler," she said. "It’s not my cup of tea."

Hurley also noted that your mindset is just as important.

"I am more immature by the moment – my son is more mature than me," she said. "I used to be grown-up but I’ve lost it."

Elizabeth Hurley isn’t saying goodbye to summer quite yet

The British actress and model, 56, soaking up the warm weather in the bright yellow “Sunshine” bikini.

Lounging on a pile of leopard-print pillows and sporting rose-colored sunglasses, the star rolled over and blew a kiss to the camera.

Elizabeth Hurley has spent much of the last year at home in England quarantining with family. Her pandemic pod numbered nine members, including her mother, who has “severe respiratory problems.” As a result, Hurley has been extremely careful throughout the pandemic, referring to herself as “completely paranoid that I won't be able to keep them safe.”

“I haven't let anyone leave the house apart from me,” she told last year. “I just nip out to local food stores and wear a mask and gloves. I'm terrified of bringing the virus back to my vulnerable guests.”

Despite the pandemic, Hurley said she finds her greatest joy at home.

"Secretly, I'd much rather be gardening than doing anything else," she told the magazine. "I've been outside doing things for at least five hours a day. My brother bought me a set of what he calls 'lady tools,' which are lightweight. I have my own shed with all my tools in it, and woe betide anyone else who uses them. Otherwise, I think I'm OK with everything."
