Jena Sims showcases her flawless body in a bikini

Jena Sims, a successful model and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie for 2024, is gearing up for a major photoshoot by focusing on her fitness. Recently, she shared some behind-the-scenes moments on her Instagram story, where she was seen working out with fellow model Sixtine Royer and fitness expert Denise Austin. Dressed in black workout gear, Sims appeared focused and motivated. Her training routine is part of her preparation to maintain her stunning physique, and she's using a variety of exercises to ensure she's at her best for the shoot. Sims proves that even at the top of her game, she's still putting in the work to stay fit and confident.

As you can see from her Instagram story, Sims is seen working with a trainer. ACE Fitness states that personal training has a lot of health benefits. "Most of us work harder in the presence of others. Having a trainer by your side can provide the encouragement, energy and motivation you need to jumpstart your routine. A trainer can also help you set goals, create a plan to accomplish them and celebrate the day you reach them."

Sims shared some of her favorite workouts in this Instagram video. One thing she is seen doing is hip thrusts. Sims captioned the post, "Let's build-a-booty ?? in the gym ??" Gymless states that hip thrusts are very effective. "Hip thrusts are a controlled and powerful movement, mainly focusing on the glutes, hamstrings, lower back, and core. This exercise is vital for developing a stronger posterior chain, contributing to improved athletic performance, alleviating lower back pain, and enhancing overall physique. Considering that about 65 million Americans experience some form of back pain, hip thrusts are a great exercise to include in your routine."

Sims is also seen doing lunges in the previous Instagram video. ACE Fitness states that lunges are very effective. "If you're doing front and back lunges, you'll primarily be working the gluteus maximus, adductors, and quadriceps. Side lunges will work the gluteus medius more. And if you're taking bigger steps forward and back, you'll use more of the glute muscles, while smaller steps will target the quadriceps more."

Sims also likes to do squats to stay in shape. She is seen doing them in this Instagram video. Squats have a lot of benefits. The Cleveland Clinic states, "Squats target and strengthen your thighs, hips and butt. Why does that matter? A strong lower body is important for athletes, yes, but not just for athletes. Your lower body fuels your ability to walk, run, jump … everything, really. It also generates power for upper-body movements and all kinds of other activities."

Sims opened up about being in the spotlight in an interview with The New York Post. She says that she has learned to ignore what people say about her. "I always tell myself, you can be the ripest, juiciest peach and there's always going to be someone who doesn't like peaches. There'll always be people who will be like, 'get a job,' or 'stop spending your husband's money' or 'wow it's a shame you don't have any of your own hobbies or talent.' "

Fitness influencer Katie Austin likes these workouts

Fitness influencer and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model Katie Austin is showing fans the workouts she does before hitting the runway for the iconic magazine. Austin, the daughter of Denise Austin, shared a video of herself wearing light pink two-piece workout gear, doing a mat workout in the sunshine. "Cannot wait to walk my 4th year of the iconic @si_swimsuit runway show tonight!!! Here are 4 things I prioritize when prepping for my walk? …now who's tuning in?!❤️‍?" she captioned the post.

Austin loves Pilates, strength training, cardio, and barre-type workouts. "I mix up my workouts and really lean into variety," she told Women's Health. "I like the combination of something a little bit lighter on the body paired with more intense strength training, in addition to some cardio. But if I only have time to work out, say, two days that week, I'll do cardio and sculpt mixed together—It's my favorite way to work out."

Austin didn't find her Sports Illustrated shoot intimidating. "One thing I love most about SI Swimsuit is their encouragement to be your most authentic self and showcase it," she told E! News. "So, when it came time to prep for my SI shoot, I didn't do an entire overhaul of my lifestyle, but rather focused on things that were already important to me! I ate a balanced diet, worked out, and prioritized my mental health and routine!"

Austin is grateful she and her sister were raised to have a positive relationship with food. "My parents always had hearty, yet healthy, home-cooked meals on the table for us—like a pot roast and baked potato," she told Women's Health. "I knew that I needed carbs, protein, fat, nutrients to power my workouts and game and give me energy. I always like to ask myself, 'What are you adding in?' I don't focus on restriction or subtracting ingredients or food groups or anything. I don't eliminate. My mom has such a zest for life, but also a zest for food!"

Austin has good advice for anyone just starting on their fitness journey. "Don't expect to lose 20 pounds in a week or run a marathon in a month," she told E! News. "Set small, achievable goals that you can work towards over time. For example, aim to walk for 30 minutes a day, or to do 10 push-ups without stopping. Celebrate your successes along the way, no matter how small they may seem."

Austin switches up her workouts depending on her mood. "We go through different phases of life and reasons why we work out," she told Women's Health. "One week, I could be working out simply because I'm really stressed, and I'm craving lower-impact movement that just feels gentle and good. Then the next six months I may be training harder with weights to gain strength. Changes and shifts are great."

Katie Austin plays golf in a Bikini to celebrate 'Last Day' in her 20s

Katie Austin celebrated her "dirty thirty" birthday in style, teasing fans with photos from her big weekend bash online.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Rookie of the Year posted just under a dozen new pictures to her Instagram grid, documenting her weekend getaway to the Hawaiian island Lanai.

"Hi from my birthday weekend!!" she captioned the Oct. 1 post. "Last day of being in my 20s?."

Alongside the sweet sentiment, Austin handpicked 10 of her favorite memory-making moments from the trip, including photographs of herself golfing in a bikini, posing in natural springs, and of course, indulging in perfectly plated meals and colorful cocktails.

Other images suggested the birthday girl enjoyed a quiet couples massage with her fiancé, Lane Armstrong, in a private patio surrounded by nature and time spent in the great outdoors–even if it was only from the view of her terrace.

Her mom, celebrity fitness trainer Denise Austin, was among those rooting for the YouTuber, cheering in the comments, "Every day you have made my life filled with joy!! You radiate kindness and a beautiful heart.. I can’t believe my baby girl will be 30 tomorrow!!! I love you .. xoxo."

On her big day–Monday, Oct. 2–Austin shared another, more romantic look at her little getaway.

"Woke up 30 flirty and thriving!!! feeling so much love today? best day ever spent with the love of my life," she gushed alongside the post, featuring a handful of never-before-seen bikini photos.

Her mom also wished her well in the comments of this post, exclaiming, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET WONDERFUL KATIE!!!!!!! I love you honey bunny!! You deserve the BEST birthday ever!! Xoxo."

Denise Austin, 65, reveals her secrets to getting in bikini-shape for the New Year

At age 65, Denise Austin is rocking a bikini with pride.

The renowned fitness instructor made a splash this summer when she and her daughter, Katie Austin, modeled two-pieces on the catwalk for the 2022 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show in Miami.

The ‘80s star told Fox News Digital "it was a complete joy" to team up with the 29-year-old, who has already made her mark as a fitness influencer on social media with her own app. Katie made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2021 as part of their annual Swim Search. She then returned for this year’s issue as an official rookie.

"For [SI] to even ask me at 65 years old to be in a bikini – I mean, it was a huge thrill and I just went for it," said Austin. "What the heck?"

Austin noted that while she’s proud to celebrate her body, she hopes it will also inspire other women to realize that it’s not too late to revamp their health goals.

"First, love the body you’re in," Austin said. "Do the best that you can. I truly believe in having a good attitude. It truly comes from within. I love what I do, and I feel like I can help women out there feel better about themselves. Exercise, eating right, having a good attitude, a good night’s rest – all of it helps with that healthy lifestyle. I want women to truly try their very best to eat healthily and to move more. That’s my message. I have always said that for all these 40 years, just do the best that you can. That is the key."

Austin, who skyrocketed to fame in the ‘80s and ‘90s thanks to her "8-minute abs" workout, has sold more than 24 million exercise videos and DVDs over the years. She also starred in the top fitness show,"Fit & Lite," for 14 years.

Most recently, the mother-daughter duo teamed up once more. In November, they launched the "SlimFast Loves the ‘80s" throwback fitness class, which pays homage to the brand’s origins. It features classic aerobic moves, as well as Katie’s more modern approach to breaking a sweat. Austin said she designed the 30-minute workout for those who don’t want to wait until 2023 to fulfill their resolutions.

"Walking is such a great form of exercise," she said. "I try to walk every day. I get in my steps. … If you could walk and pump your arms, you’ll burn more calories because you’re using more muscles. … But walking is just fine. I believe in three ways to stay in shape – cardio to burn some fat, toning to firm up your muscles and then stretching for improving your flexibility. … I tell people if they’re just starting, [exercise] three days a week. You will see a difference in your body. Make sure you do a little at a time. Take your time, ease into it."

"I try to work out most days of the week, but I only work out for 30 minutes," Austin continued. "During the holidays, I love to walk and get my steps in. … I love to work out in the morning. That way, I have the whole day and I’m not worried about how I’m going to squeeze it in. But to be perfectly honest, it’s what you can fit into your schedule best. That’s why if you can just work out for 10 minutes in the morning and then another 10 minutes in the evening, that’s OK, too. As long as it accumulates to about 20-30 minutes most days of the week. You’ll be doing great. … Start small. Wake up maybe 10 minutes earlier than normal and squeeze in that 10-minute workout in the morning."

Austin recommended reaching out to a loved one if you need extra encouragement. Exercising with a buddy, she said, can make the workout more enjoyable for some.

"I always call my sisters and ask, ‘Who wants to work out?’ or ‘Who’s around to walk this week?’" she said. "I think you should plan [your workouts], too. Put it in your schedule, make it a part of your plan so you have it in your datebook, and it becomes a part of your life. It’s all about lifestyle. All of this is to help you live a healthier lifestyle. So, make things more convenient for you and you’ll make it stick that way. You’ll do it more often and have fun doing it, too. And music is key. I love fun music. … My playlist is very diverse. I have music from Drake to Taylor Swift to Bruce Springsteen."

Austin said that the most common mistake people tend to make in the New Year is overwhelming themselves with "too much too soon."

"I think it’s a lot easier to start small and do little things like walk," Austin said. "I think people try to do too much sometimes. It then becomes so complicated that it doesn’t stick; you won’t stay consistent, and you won’t see a difference. Start three days a week and build yourself up to four days. Make your workouts fun, something to look forward to. That way you will stick with it."

"Sometimes it’s hard to drive to a gym," she said. "That’s why I like to work out at home because it’s so convenient. If it’s convenient, it makes your life easier and you’ll stick to it all year."

Denise Austin was stunned when Sports Illustrated Swimsuit asked if she would walk down the runway in a bikini

The fitness icon joined her daughter, SI Swim model Katie Austin, at the 2022 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show in July. The mother and daughter proudly rocked two pieces on the catwalk for the live broadcast show at the W South Beach pool in Miami Beach, Florida.

"At first, I thought, ‘Am I really doing this? Are you kidding me? In a bikini at age 65?’" Denise Austin chuckled. "But how exhilarating that was! It was this amazing, natural high. It was an honor that they even asked me. And then to do this with my daughter made it even more special. It was the highlight of my life to walk the runway with my daughter. I’m still not over it."

The former gymnast shared that her daughter, 28, has been an inspiration to her.

"It brought tears to my eyes [when I first saw her in SI]," Austin explained. "I was just so proud of her. She’s just the sweetest person with the biggest heart. And she’s a hard worker. She tried out for it three different years through Swim Search, so it’s not like this was given to her. And I’m just so proud because this has been a dream of hers. I remember seeing Christie Brinkley and Kathy Ireland on the cover and thinking how that was such a big deal. So it’s amazing to see my daughter in the magazine. And she will now always be a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model."

For more than 30 years, Austin has been encouraging people to kick off an active lifestyle through her workout routines. She has sold more than 24 million exercise videos and DVDs. She also led the longest-running fitness show in TV history. She is still bursting with energy and enthusiasm while doing a "total body burn cardio" or training to be "lean, toned and totally fit" – all with a megawatt smile.

"Shoes are the most important thing you need whether you’re walking or doing any form of fitness," she explained. "When Easy Spirit asked me to collaborate, I was so excited, because I love their shoes, but I also wanted to make a more fun style with benefits. One shoe is great for power walking that’s also very lightweight… the other is for walking fast or running. I created both styles, but I walk at least 35 minutes a day. I wanted something where I can go out and walk my dog, casually wear to Pilates, or just for running errands. I’m always in athletic wear, so it made sense."

Austin said that low-impact workouts often get overlooked, but there are plenty of benefits for those needing some motivation.

Katie Austin slipping on one of her mom icon Denise Austin old swimwear to show off her own toned figure

Denise revealed that Katie is a finalist in the 2021 Sports Illustrated Swim Search competition, which means that she could appear in the pages of the magazine's star-making swimsuit issue.

Denise Austin is a fitness instructor and former gymnast who rose to fame in the late '80s. She appeared in a large number of aerobics videos, as well as the long-running fitness series Getting Fit, Denise Austin's Daily Workout, and Fit & Lite . She continues to share exercise and diet advice and her daughter has followed in her footsteps. However, Katie is helping people get healthy in a more modern way by making a name for herself as a fitness promoter.

Denise shared side-by-side photos of herself and her daughter rocking the same white leotard with a zipper front and high-cut legs, which are currently very on-trend. The health guru revealed that the garment was 20 years old.

In her Sports Illustrated Swim Search profile, Katie revealed that 2019 cover model Camille Kostek inspired her to audition for the competition for the second time. She also said that one of her favorite recent SI Swim covers was from the same year as Camille's first. Soccer star Alex Morgan appeared on her own separate cover, and Katie found it encouraging and inspiring to see a female athlete celebrated in such a way.

Katie stated that she isn't changing her fitness routine or eating habits ahead of her photoshoot. Instead, she has decided to focus more on mentally preparing for the shoot by practicing "self-love and self-care."

"I want to focus on staying positive and confident," she said.

While talking about what her Swim Search experience has been like so far, Katie revealed that she has become close with her fellow finalists. She described the group as supportive of one another, and she said that it feels like she has gained "a whole new group of friends."
