Lucy Hale shared some of her fitness secrets

Lucy Hale is a very successful actress. She is best known for her role as Aria Montgomery in Pretty Little Liars. She's also known for playing the title character in Katy Keene, and for starring in A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song. Hale recently hit the gym, and shared a photo of herself working out on Instagram.

Hale shared her skincare secrets with WhoWhatWear. She says that her routine has become simpler. "I've realized as I've gotten older that my skin just can't handle too much, and I've had to really cut back. I mean, I used to be the girl who had a 15-step skincare routine every single night. My whole approach to skincare now is really about consistency and less about the number of products I'm using."

Hale shared her morning skincare routine with WhoWhatWear. "I like to start by using a gentle cleanser to really get off all of my products from the night before and any oil that's built up. Next, I'll do a toner, and then it depends, but typically every other day, I'll either use a vitamin C serum or a hyaluronic acid serum, or sometimes I'll just kind of mix them together. I don't really need to add a lot more moisture since my skin naturally produces quite a bit of oil, so I just put on that SPF, and that's pretty much it for the morning."

Hale likes to hike to stay in shape. She tells WhoWhatWear that she aims to hike every day. "I love having slow mornings. I've found that not having to rush really kick-starts my mood in the right way. I try to hike every day. There's a canyon near where I live, and that's sort of my 'me' time."

Hale shared some of her fitness secrets with Shape. She says that she likes to strength train. "I do a lot of strength training because I like to feel strong. I'm 5-foot-2, but I like to feel like a badass and to know that I could kick someone's ass. So I do pull-ups and do squats with the big-boy weights. I even flipped one of those big tires once."

Hale is a big fan of Pilates. She tells Shape, "I just discovered Pilates. My butt has never been higher, and my abs have never been stronger. Our bodies are so amazing and resilient, and we don't give them enough credit. I spent much of my teen years and early 20s not loving my body and not being good to it. I'm trying to make up for that because we get only one body. We have to take care of our temple."

"Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood," they said. "People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating."

Sukirti does Pilates to keep her body long and lean. "Rise and shine it's Pilates time with the lovely group," she captioned a post. Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it "strengthens the body's inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health." It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.

Sukirti maintains that fitness is a choice. "Waking up early to train is hard. Pushing yourself to work out every week in the gym is hard. Rejecting fast food in modern society is even harder. Having no energy is even worse. There is the pain of sacrifice or the pain of regret. Choose ur hard. Work hard to live well," she captioned an inspiring post.

Sukirti is a tea drinker. "And another version it's tea tripping today ? #instalove #instagram #lovetea," she captioned a post. Numerous studies have shown that a variety of teas may boost your immune system, fight off inflammation, and even ward off cancer and heart disease.

"Your core is the central part of your body. It includes your pelvis, lower back, hips and stomach. The stomach muscles sometimes are called abs. Core exercises train the muscles in your core to work in harmony. This leads to better balance and steadiness, also called stability. Stability is important whether you're on the playing field or doing regular activities. In fact, most sports and other physical activities depend on stable core muscles."

In her Instagram video, Garth is seen doing some strength training exercises. She is seen holding a kettlebell and doing bicep presses with dumbbells. The Mayo Clinic states that strength training has a lot of benefits. "By stressing your bones, strength training can increase bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Strength training can help you manage or lose weight, and it can increase your metabolism to help you burn more calories."

In her Instagram video, Garth is seen balancing on a ball while doing squats. Allina Health states that squats have a lot of health benefits. "The squat is one of the all-around best exercises to do for your lower body. It strengthens and tones muscles in your thighs, butt and calves and improves posture, balance, flexibility and inner core strength. Squatting also improves bone mineral density to keep your bones strong."

Garth makes sure to eat a healthy diet. She talked about her favorite options in an interview with Us Weekly. "I'm just taking care of myself," she says. "I eat a lot of Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt in the morning, salads and proteins the rest of the day and maybe a cupcake if I've been a good girl."

Academy Award winning actress, Halle Berry, has consistently been considered one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. And her recent Instagram post proves it. "Being diagnosed with diabetes—that was an aha moment that just changed my whole life. When I realized that I had a disease that I could actually manage by my diet and exercise, and live longer and stay healthier? That's when I got really committed to making fitness and exercise and diet a real part of my life."

Berry said in her Harper's Bazaar interview that taking care of her gut is extremely important. "Everything stems from your gut. As I've said, all of your other organs become healthier when your gut is healthy and your microbiome is balanced. And when your gut's healthy, you also metabolize food better, especially sugar. We all need to metabolize sugar better to get it in and out of our bodies as quickly as we can, because we all know some of the unhealthy effects of sugar."

When it comes to fitness, Berry believes in doing a variety of things. She shared her workout routine with InStyle. "Over the past few years, I went from training for John Wick 3 to my upcoming film and directorial debut BRUISED. Some days I'd work on strength and cardio and others I'd do yoga and stretching, all while I did a few hours of martial arts training each day. For me, it's been important not to overstress my body. Taking cold hot showers has been a good recovery ritual."

Berry makes sure to take care of her mental health, and shared her favorite ways to do so with InStyle. "I've also found that taking care of my mental health has been crucial during these odd times. I just launched my Journal on Joy at rē·spin which is part of my bedtime routine. It is a space to record memories that make you smile and helps me focus on positivity and gratitude. Also reading self-help books on ways to stay grounded and centered during this time has been widely helpful and inspirational."

I've found it so amazing but difficult, too. It's the best tool for anxiety or panic attacks… you can do breathing exercises from anywhere and it really grounds you."

Alisha also loves "going for walks in nature, with friends or in solitude," she told The Unwind. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

"I love reading novels; I'm somewhat of an escapist. I've been reading the latest Sally Rooney book. I loooooove Sally Rooney and all of her stories! She captures the millennial and Gen Z generations really well," Alisha revealed to Yahoo. One Harvard study published in Social Science & Medicine found that people who read books regularly had a 20% lower risk of dying over the next 12 years compared with people who weren't readers or who read periodicals.

A 2016 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine determined that people who engaged in moderate-intensity dancing were 46 percent less likely to develop heart disease or die from it than non-dancers. In comparison, moderate-intensity walkers were just 25 percent less likely to suffer heart health issues.

Sabrina maintains that "drinking ice cold water with lemon every morning" is her go-to morning ritual. It "has been a very very big staple in my life to make me feel like I'm awake, I'm alert, to wake up my skin, kind of get the blood pumping and flowing," she told Vogue.

But I'm not someone who needs a drink to dance. Basically I've become very efficient at everything. I'm like 'What do I need out of this situation?"

Joy loves to dance to stay in shape. She said to Tatler, "I need to dance for a couple of hours, see my friends and have a good time', so I'm like 'Right, let's bang it out.' Then it's: go home, have a bath, get up for work. I sound mental, but that's what's working for me right now."

Joy has amazing skin, and she makes sure to take care of it. She shared her favorite products with Harper's Bazaar. Joy makes sure to cleanse her skin. "My favourite cleanser to use is the gentle Chanel Sublimage Essential Comfort Cleanser. It's just so comforting, like you're giving yourself a massage when you use it, and when you wash it off it feels like it's moisturised your skin."

It's Bio-Oil combined with Egyptian Magic cream, I coat it on my skin before bed. Your skin looks so much better the next day, it literally feels like you've had 14 hours of sleep. Something else I've recently got into because it makes my skin look good–but also because I love the shock value of it–is wearing sheet masks on flights. It scares people, but they then leave you alone! I use the 111Skin Rose Gold Brightening Facial Treatment Mask – it's so, so good. I'm quite an impatient person so the fact it dries on your skin telling you to take it off, is helpful."

Joy tells Harper's Bazaar that she makes sure to wear an SPF. "I was a very big tom boy growing up before the acting, so the fashion and beauty has been a bit of a crash course, but I am learning. There's a SkinCeuticals SPF50 which is fab because it's really lightweight. As somebody that doesn't wear foundation, I like the feeling of natural bare skin – so I don't want to cake on the sunscreen, but the SkinCeuticals one is really light and sheer, but I know that it's protecting my face."

In her Harper's Bazaar interview, Joy revealed how she takes care of her hair. "I am the biggest believer in leave-in conditioner and serums. Karine Jackson who does my hair has a really nice vegan serum which is nice and light, but protective. David Mallet has one too, which is fab, and I like to work that into wet hair because it dries really nicely without having to use a hairdryer. Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer mask is heaven. It really, really works."

Joy doesn't like to pressure herself to do things. "We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be calm, but I think you just need to accept where you are at this moment in time and be generous with yourself," she said in an interview with Vogue. "I think that's definitely easier said than done. People are quite disconnected from their bodies. They think about the thinking mind and the body as two separate entities. I think it is important to honour your body and be grateful that you have a body, as it allows you to experience this world, which is where self-care came in for me. I'm so grateful for my feet because they allow me to walk through all of these spaces, and grateful for my eyes as they allow me to see. Rather than thinking about the ways in which your body is (in your mind) deficient, think about the way that your body allows you to be in this crazy world, and be grateful for it."
